Job Description

Job summary: Our client, a leader in the marine industry, is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor (Night Shift) to join their team in Port Glasgow.

Key skills required: Marine/Shipbuilding experience

Important: Supervisory Experience

This is an onsite, permanent position where you will leverage your mechanical engineering experience to lead and supervise a multiskilled team, ensuring all activities are completed on time and to a high standard. The successful candidate will ideally have shipbuilding experience with some supervisory experience, and experience working in a machine shop is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installing main machinery on new build vessels
  • Reading and understanding technical drawings
  • Setting up and aligning shafts, thrusters, rudders, gearboxes, pumps, and commissioning mechanical equipment
  • Maximising labour utilisation by setting work for the team to meet delivery schedules
  • Providing technical advice to the team and identifying process improvements
  • Updating all relevant documents including daily progress registers, log books, accident books, training, performance records, and attendance logs
Job Requirements:
  • Educated to HNC level in a related subject
  • Supervisory experience in an industrial environment
  • IT skills, especially MS Office
