Job summary

1st Step Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Site Supervisor for an education project in Cumbria. You will oversee mechanical works, coordinate installers, and ensure safety compliance on site.

Ideal candidates hold NVQ Level 3 in Pipefitting (or equivalent), CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, and First Aid at Work. Previous supervisory experience on commercial/M&E sites is essential, with ability to manage variations and drive the programme forward.

Qualifications

• Relevant NVQ/City & Guilds level in pipefitting or equivalent required.
• CSCS Skill Card and SSSTS/SMSTS preferred for site leadership.
• First Aid at Work certification is desirable.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience on mechanical/electrical projects.
• Ability to read plans and ensure safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical work and site trades to ensure programme delivery.
• Coordinate installation activities and supervise contractors/subcontractors.
• Issue permits, inspections, and manage RFI/method statements and risk assessments.
• Conduct toolbox talks and ensure adherence to H&S procedures.
• Liaise with managers, monitor progress, and report on site works.
• Manage variations and maintain quality standards of installation.
• Carry out site surveys and ensure snag-free completion.
• Maintain site diaries, progress reports and schedules of work.

1st Step Solutions are supporting a M&E Contractor who are looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to join their team on an education project in Cumbria.

We are seeking Supervisors who have experience working on commerical projects in a Supervisory capacity, preferably for a Tier 1 M&E Contractor.

Job Purpose:

The responsibilities of this Mechanical Site Supervisor role include overseeing mechanical work and site trades, scoping work and ordering materials, issuing permits and ensuring safety rules are followed.

Role:

• Co-ordination of the installation.
• Supervising Contractors and Subcontractors, ensuring all direct staff and Subcontractors are adequately trained and adhering to H&S procedures.
• Conducting toolbox talks, ordering materials, completing schedules of work, scheduling materials to ensure programme of works delivered.
• Liaise with Managers on a regular basis, reporting on any and all works conducted on site.
• Managing variations.
• Ensuring the quality of the installation was of a high standard.
• Carrying out site surveys.
• Ensuring the installation was snag free.
• Paperwork management; RFI's, method statements, risk assessments, site diaries, progress reports.

Requirements:

• City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Pipefitting or equivalent.
• CSCS Skill Card.
