Job summary

Essity in Skelmersdale is seeking a Mechanical Specialist to lead on-site maintenance of mechanical systems. The role focuses on preventative and predictive strategies to improve reliability, safety, and performance across heavy industry equipment.

You will mentor junior technicians, manage contractors, and drive KPI-based improvements while maintaining rigorous workshop standards and health & safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised multi-skilled or mechanical engineering apprenticeship, ideally with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3.
• Proven mechanical experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience maintaining complex automated manufacturing systems, including large rotating equipment and hydraulics.
• Experience using SAP for maintenance planning and execution.
• FMCG experience extremely desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coach and support operational colleagues in resolving mechanical issues and improving machine reliability.

As Mechanical Specialist in the days team at Skelmersdale, you'll lead defined maintenance activities with a focus on mechanical systems. You'll be accountable for the performance and reliability of machinery through preventative and predictive maintenance strategies. This hands-on role is central to our ambition of zero breakdowns and zero stops, and will contribute to both short-term performance and long-term asset development.,
