Mechanical/Fluid Systems Spares Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Spares Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in supporting the Fluid and Mechanical Systems by reviewing, identifying, and sourcing equivalent instrumentation and components as a result of obsolescence. These components are primarily used within gas turbine package auxiliary systems, with the replacement components ensuring continued reliability and efficiency of our products.

In this role, as a vital member of the Service business, you will engage in a variety of tasks that include technical evaluation, coordination, and providing a link between the Spares Engineering and Further Engineering departments, with the drive and skills to contribute to our mission of re-imagining the world. How You'll Make an Impact
  • Technical Evaluation/Identification: Identify and source equivalent instrumentation and components for gas turbine package auxiliary systems, ensuring compatibility and performance. Evaluate parts and systems to ensure replacements meet or exceed original specifications.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including specifications and drawings.
  • Obsolescence Management: Identify replacements for obsolete components and develop change-out kits as required to maintain the functionality of our equipment.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments, regional divisions, suppliers, and customers to ensure the availability and quality of the replacement parts within allocated timescales.
What You Bring
  • Qualifications: HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Experience in a Spares Engineering role within an associated or similar industry. Preferred candidates will have experience with Gas/Steam Turbine and/or Gas Compression auxiliary packaged systems.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with system components and technologies, such as pumps, valves, piping, actuators, and instrumentation. Working knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (ISO21789, SIL, PED, ATEX).
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with SAP, AUTOCAD, Siemens NX, Siemens PLM, and MS Office Suite.
  • Communication and Coordination: Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of liaising effectively with team members, other disciplines, suppliers, and customers.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple spares simultaneously and deliver within set timescales.
