Job summary

GE Vernova’s UK Centre of Excellence in Gas Power, Steam Services ITR Engineering, seeks a Mechanical Software Engineer to contribute to hands-on development of engineering applications and rotating component analysis.

The role emphasizes C++, C, Java, Python and Fortran, with Unix environments and automation; you will lead design discussions and coordinate with global teams.

Security clearance checks may be required (SC), and relocation assistance is available to support the UK facility.

Qualifications

• Significant programming experience in C++, C, Java, Python and Shell scripting to develop high-performance engineering applications.
• Hands-on experience with rotating component design workflows, CAD modeling, engineering automation and physics-based design tools.
• Unix/Solaris environments, software build processes, scripting, debugging, version control and deployment practices for engineering software.
• Fortran experience with mathematical problem solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify business needs with engineering teams; define problem statements; develop functional specifications with measurable impact.
• Translate requirements into tool development plans with traceability from requirement to delivery.
• Upgrade and enhance design/engineering analysis apps for rotating components to improve usability and integration with workflows.
• Manage project scope, schedules, risks, and cross-functional coordination to deliver on time and within scope.
• Lead application development, testing, deployment, support, and user training across domestic and global teams.
