Overview

Mechanical Site Manager - Hospital Project (East Sussex, 6 Months)

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to work on a hospital project based in East Sussex. This is a 6-month freelance contract offering an excellent opportunity to oversee and manage the installation and commissioning of key mechanical systems in a live healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day mechanical works on-site, ensuring delivery is on time, to budget, and to the highest quality.
• Supervise and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and health & safety regulations.
• Manage installation, testing, and commissioning of key hospital systems (HVAC, medical gases, hot & cold water, and drainage).
• Liaise closely with the Project Manager, client representatives, and consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Attend and contribute to site meetings, providing progress updates and addressing risks or issues.
• Monitor quality standards and carry out regular inspections, ensuring works meet NHS and HTM standards.
• Ensure all site documentation, permits, and H&S records are maintained and up to date.

About You

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager on healthcare, hospital, or large-scale building projects.
• Strong knowledge of hospital mechanical services, including compliance with HTM requirements.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to drive subcontractor performance.
• Health & Safety awareness with a valid CSCS card and SMSTS/SSSTS certification.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
