Overview

Mechanical Shift Technician - c. £48k – shifts – Doncaster

The position of Mechanical Shift Technician operates a 12-hour shift (2 days, 2 nights and 4 off) over an 8-week rolling rota.

WorkHours and Environment
  • Hours: 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am
  • Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Pension: Company contributions min of 7% up to 10%
  • Extras: Employee assistance program, free parking, on a bus route, near to the train station
  • Environment: Heavy industrial, processing plant; this role wouldn’t suit someone who likes a spotless working environment
Responsibilities

The Mechanical Shift Technician will work as part of a multi skilled team handling the day-to-day maintenance of all industrial plant and machinery. To install and maintain new and existing equipment, whilst ensuring production is not interrupted. Assist with carrying out hands on mechanical engineering routines, in accordance with the planned preventative maintenance programmes as well as emergency breakdowns. Health and safety are paramount on this site and you will be expected to conduct risk assessments on all jobs before undertaking any work / tasks and comply with all health and safety procedures. As part of the team, you will assisting other mechanical / operational departments when required.

Requirements
  • Time served apprenticeship or recognised Mechanical Engineering certification/qualification.
  • Fabrication skills are essential as is previous experience within a process / factory environment.
  • Refrigeration experience would be advantageous.
  • Be able to work on own initiative and to take a proactive approach to problem solving and produce appropriate solutions to reduce disruption to working processes.
  • Calm and methodical approach to work and be able to work under pressure within time constraints.
