Qualifications

Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer
Location: Bristol, UK
Salary: 39,150 per annum (including 4,500 shift allowance)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off - Days & Nights (07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer to join a dedicated maintenance team in a large, critical environment in Bristol. This role is ideal for a reliable, skilled mechanical engineer who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is committed to maintaining essential building services to the highest standards.

You will work on a rotating shift pattern, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical and building services systems

  • Maintain HVAC systems, gas appliances, steam plant, medical gas systems, and associated equipment

  • Diagnose faults, complete repairs, and support small installation or refurbishment works

  • Prepare and test pressure vessels for inspection

  • Oversee specialist contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed

  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and comply with all safety regulations and procedures

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or Level 2 or 3 qualifications in a mechanical discipline

  • Plumbing experience is essential

  • Good knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems in commercial or industrial settings

  • Ability to fault-find, read technical drawings, and complete works independently

  • 18th Edition or electrical qualifications (desirable but not required)

  • Strong team player with effective communication and customer service skills

  • IT literate and open to professional development
