Joseph T. Berrena Mechanicals, Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, is seeking a Lead Service Technician to join our growing service division. This key position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of commercial and residential systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and commercial kitchen equipment. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded field technician with leadership skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead technician on assigned service calls, ensuring all work meets company and industry standards
Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems (residential and light commercial)
Troubleshoot and service refrigeration systems, including walk-ins, reach-ins, and ice machines
Perform plumbing repairs, including leak detection, fixture replacement, and drainage solutions
Execute electrical service work, including diagnostics and minor installations
Service, install, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including fryers, ovens, grills, and exhaust systems
Mentor and guide junior technicians and apprentices in the field
Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation
Communicate effectively with clients, dispatch, and project management
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, company procedures, and regulatory codes
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in multi-trade field service work (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen equipment)
EPA Section 608 Certification (required)
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Excellent time management, communication, and leadership abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical ability to perform typical service technician duties (lifting up to 75 lbs, ladder work, rooftop units, confined spaces)
Certifications (Pay Premium Considered):
NATE Certification
OSHA 10/30
Commercial Refrigeration Certification
Backflow Prevention Certification
Manufacturer training certifications (e.g., Manitowoc, Vulcan, Trane, True, etc.)
