Job description

Mechanical Services Contract Manager role.

Location - Gloucester.

Our client is looking for a Mechanical Services Contracts Manager to join a leading Design and Build Contractor specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) Engineering Services. Our comprehensive offering includes the full scope of design, installation, project management, testing, commissioning, and maintenance—with a strong focus on renewable energy solutions.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Services Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing mechanical engineering installation projects with a value of at least £1.5m. This role is perfect for someone technically sound and commercially astute, ready to take ownership of projects from handover through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Full project management of mechanical services contracts from estimate handover to completion.
  2. Procurement of plant, materials, and subcontractor packages ensuring cost efficiency.
  3. Monitor and forecast spend using purchasing software and spreadsheets to control budgets.
  4. Evaluate and manage labour requirements, site resource allocation, and associated costs.
  5. Conduct regular site visits to oversee progress, ensure quality, and maintain programme.
  6. Manage monthly valuations, applications for payment, and variations.
  7. Prepare and oversee RAMS; monitor Health & Safety compliance.
  8. Produce monthly work-in-progress reports for Directors.
  9. Liaise with clients, consultants, architects, surveyors, and internal teams.
  10. Attend project group and technical meetings.
  11. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining delivery standards.
  12. Assist in tender preparation and submission.
  13. Collate certification and prepare O&M manuals.
  14. Understand and respond to client needs effectively.

Key Skills & Experience:
  1. Minimum 5 years' experience in Mechanical Contract Management.
  2. Experience managing commercial projects £1.5m+ in value.
  3. Strong mechanical engineering background within Commercial, Industrial or Public Sector buildings.
  4. High level of technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems.
  5. Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  6. Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and contracts.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Organised, proactive, and capable of working under pressure.
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office; CAD knowledge beneficial but not essential.
