Mechanical Project Manager / Contracts Manager
Location: North West / Multi-Site
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Car Allowance

Role Summary
Strong Group are working with an established M&E contractor looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Manager / Contracts Manager to support the delivery of mechanical building services projects across the North West and wider UK.
The position is primarily focused on project delivery, managing multiple live sites and approved subcontractors from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
Projects are predominantly within the CAT A and CAT B commercial office fit-out market, although the business operates across a wider range of sectors.
Typical project values range from approximately £40,000 to £800,000.
The client is open to considering either:
- An experienced Mechanical Project Manager ready to take on broader responsibility
- An established Contracts Manager with strong mechanical building services experience
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple mechanical projects from mobilisation through to completion
- Oversee project delivery across several live sites
- Manage approved subcontractors, typically around 6-8 operatives per site
- Coordinate labour, materials, subcontractors and programme requirements
- Maintain project quality, health & safety and programme standards
- Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors
- Monitor progress against programme and resolve delivery issues
- Ensure projects are commercially controlled and delivered within agreed budgets
- Support procurement and management of mechanical packages
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage project handover, completion and close-out
- Support estimating and pre-construction activity where required
Mechanical Experience
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of mechanical building services, ideally across a broad range of systems including:
- HVAC
- Heating
- Plumbing
- Public health
- Mechanical plant
- Pipework systems
- Associated mechanical building services
A broad understanding across mechanical services would be advantageous rather than a narrow single-discipline background.
Requirements
- Previous experience managing mechanical building services projects
- Experience within commercial fit-out, particularly CAT A and CAT B environments, would be highly advantageous
- Ability to manage multiple projects/sites simultaneously
- Strong subcontractor and site management experience
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project costs
- Good client-facing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of project delivery
- Comfortable travelling between live projects as required
- Experience managing projects from mobilisation through to completion
Estimating experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as this is primarily a project delivery position.
