Job summary

People Group Limited is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead delivery on a major data centre project in Slough, Berkshire. The role is site-based, full-time, with reporting to the MEP Project Director, and responsibility for the successful delivery of your mechanical (and potentially electrical) package within the programme.

You will manage subcontractors, suppliers and design coordination, drive detailed schedules, monitor progress, cost and quality, and ensure compliance

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the delivery of the allocated mechanical package
• Manage packages valued at £15m+, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, quality and safety requirements.
• Lead and manage subcontractors, specialist contractors, suppliers and project teams.
• Coordinate MEP works with the wider construction team and other trades.
• Develop and manage detailed project programmes and ensure key milestones are achieved.
• Monitor project progress, costs, variations, procurement and commercial performance.
• Manage technical submissions, design coordination, RFIs and engineering interfaces.
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings and applicable standards.
• Work closely with the MEP Project Director, construction teams, commercial teams and client representatives.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
• Lead regular progress meetings and provide clear reporting on package performance.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Drive a collaborative approach to project delivery and maintain strong relationships with all project stakeholders.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities through to successful project completion

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a Tier 1 MEP Contractor on a major data centre project in Slough.

The project is now moving out of the pre-construction phase and into full delivery, with completion scheduled for mid to late 2027. This is a high-profile, technically complex data centre development offering the opportunity to take ownership of a major MEP package through the delivery phase.

You will be site-based on a full-time basis, reporting directly to the MEP Project Director and taking responsibility for the successful delivery of your respective mechanical or electrical package.
