Job Description

My client, a large commercial fit out/refurbishment and facilities management contractor, is actively seeking a fully qualified and experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. Predominantly based in and around Manchester but not confined to, as my client has projects across the North West. This is a great opportunity for a forward-thinking manager looking for solid career progression.

Responsibilities
  1. Management of projects on site varying from £1k to £2m.
  2. Be the person on point for all activity relating to the delivery of the project.
  3. Coordinate the delivery of all project activities on site between different trade subcontractors and internal teams.
  4. Work with the Contracts Manager to ensure successfully turning the project plan and quote into a reality.
  5. Manage all stakeholders and work with the Site Managers to create the project programme.
  6. Placing of all subcontractor orders based upon take-off’s.
  7. Working with the design and construction teams to coordinate all activities on site.
  8. Coordination of Mechanical services (RCP’s etc) with other building elements and create solutions to Services clashes on site.
  9. Provide technical support to Mechanical trade packages on site to ensure smooth delivery of the project.
  10. Attend and represent the division at all site progress meetings, producing progress reports as required.
  11. Production and compilation of all Mechanical project specific H&S documentation.
  12. Manage variations with on-site stakeholders and communicate these back to Contract Managers.
  13. Work with the Contracts Manager to produce valuations of works completed and Final Accounts.
  14. Production and compilation of Project O&M information.
Tasks & Duties
  1. Build and lead construction team.
  2. Take on design development and changes during construction.
  3. Manage Construction drawing reviews and submissions.
  4. Manage and review internal & subcontractor H&S information.
  5. Review and manage programme.
  6. Monitor project progress and set deadlines.
  7. Attend project progress meetings.
  8. Evaluate and manage engineering and installation performance and standards.
  9. Manage and monitor procurement during construction with CM.
  10. Manage and monitor valuations during construction with CM.
  11. Manage commissioning programme.
  12. Manage and drive snagging work.
  13. Collate and issue O&M information.
Candidate Description
  1. Takes responsibility and ownership of workload.
  2. Great communicator who can adapt their style with different stakeholders.
  3. Works well to get the best out of people - both those directly and indirectly.
  4. At least 5 years experience of working in a trade background looking to take the next step in their career.
  5. A desire to work towards or hold a Further Education qualification in a Building Services field is preferable.
  6. Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and passionate about getting things done on time.
  7. Always seeks out value in their work.
  8. A confident communicator who likes to work collaboratively and is comfortable building relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  9. Used to multi-tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  10. Must be a self-starter and can work in dynamic environments.
  11. Must drive.
