Job summary

The Resourcing Team is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager for a permanent role in Leeds. You will drive delivery of mechanical building services projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring safety, programme adherence and budget control.

You will lead planning, procurement and site teams, coordinate with clients and consultants, review drawings and contract documents, and maintain quality and ISO standards across projects.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Building Services.
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical building services projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services installations.
  • Excellent understanding of construction programmes, project management and site operations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.
  • Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • CSCS Management Card.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple project activities and meet deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical building services projects from pre-construction handover through to practical completion and final account.
  • Plan, programme and coordinate project activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed project timescales.
  • Manage internal employees, subcontractors and supply chain partners on allocated projects, ensuring work is completed to the required quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, designers and internal departments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend project meetings, site progress meetings and client reviews
  • Review project drawings, specifications, programmes and contract documentation to ensure a full understanding of project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and implement solutions to minimise delays and maintain programme.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, ensuring materials, plant and subcontractors are procured in line with programme and project budgets.
  • Monitor project costs, variations and resource requirements, working closely with Commercial and Contracts Management teams to maximise project performance.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, quality checks, snagging inspections and progress reviews to ensure works meet company and client expectations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Quality, Environmental and Health & Health & Safety Management Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001

Mechanical Project Manager

The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects from pre-start through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Operations Managers, Contracts Managers, clients, consultants, subcontractors and site teams, the role will oversee all aspects of project delivery including planning, procurement, programme management, commercial awareness, health and safety, quality assurance and client communication.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical building services projects within the construction industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services installations.
  • Excellent understanding of construction programmes, project management and site operations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.
  • Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.

  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Experience working with BIM and digital project information
