NexVent is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a large-scale project in Cardiff, Wales. The role focuses on mechanical works from pre-construction through commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, timeliness, and quality.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams across site management, engineering, procurement, and subcontractors, with a strong emphasis on BIM, driving performance and client satisfaction on data centre, energy, and pharmaceutical projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• 7–10 years' experience delivering large-scale mechanical projects.
• Recent experience as Mechanical Project Manager on major construction projects.
• Knowledge of BIM and digital construction processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical delivery of large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.

• Monitor budgets, costs, variations and commercial performance.

About the Role

A leading international engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of a large-scale project in Cardiff, Wales. Following completion, further opportunities will be available across major projects in Ireland and Europe.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Mechanical PM with experience delivering complex Data Centre, Energy, and Pharmaceutical projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing mechanical works from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The company operates across the Data Centre, Energy & Industrial, and Building Services sectors, delivering large-scale engineering and M&E projects throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical delivery of large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
• Manage all aspects of project execution including planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and client handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including site management, engineering, procurement, commercial, and subcontractor personnel.
• Ensure all mechanical installations are delivered in accordance with project specifications, programme requirements, and quality standards.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, variations, and commercial performance.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Drive health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across the project.
• Chair progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Manage commissioning activities and oversee successful project close-out.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical support to project teams.

Requirements

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7-10 years' experience delivering large-scale mechanical projects.
• Recent experience as a Mechanical Project Manager on major construction projects.
• Proven track record delivering projects within the following sectors:
• Energy / Industrial Projects
• Pharmaceutical Facilities
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, chilled water, LTHW, pipework, process systems, and plant installations.
• Experience managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, and project reporting.
• Excellent client-facing and leadership skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and contractual understanding.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel for future projects across Ireland and Europe.
• Experience working on mission-critical environments.
• Knowledge of BIM and digital construction processes.
• SMSTS, Safe Pass, First Aid, or equivalent safety certifications.
