Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a mechanical division operating across the wider UK. This role is an immediate opportunity for candidates with a proven track record of managing commercial projects from concept design through to completion and post-handover. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with team members to strengthen relationships with contractors, clients, and colleagues. They will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered in line with specifications and drawings, to a high standard, within the allocated schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of mechanical projects from estimation to completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Oversee health and safety compliance, including writing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Supervise internal operatives and subcontractors, ensuring installations meet specifications and drawings.
  • Procure plant and materials in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Stay up to date with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship through internal QA procedures.
  • Monitor and report on site progress, attending site meetings to support clients.
  • Lead the commissioning and handover process.
  • Collaborate with the Quantity Surveyor to track financial performance of projects.
Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and capable of leading a team effectively. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to engage positively with team members, subcontractors, and clients. A high level of IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office, is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent timekeeping, organisational skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. A broad understanding of mechanical systems and installation methods is essential.

Entry Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Building Services Project Manager on large-scale new build and refurbishment commercial projects.
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Building Services.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent people management and motivational abilities.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise, and multitask effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
Typical Working Week
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Occasional weekend work or overtime may be required.
  • Some projects may require overnight stays outside South Wales.
Salary & Benefits
  • £50,000–£60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
