Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to oversee a key Wiltshire-based project, with future work across the Midlands and South. You will drive mechanical installation, commissioning, and together with design teams and subcontractors ensure on-time, on-budget delivery to a highly regulated client base.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC and pipework, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to safety and reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Mechanical Project Engineer in an M&E or main contracting environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services (HVAC, pipework, plant rooms).
• Experience delivering projects in Education, MoJ, healthcare or similarly regulated sectors is advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project finances.
• CSCS card preferred; security clearance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical installation and commissioning process from pre-construction through to handover.
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review and manage technical drawings, specifications and submittals.
• Monitor project progress, budgets and programme milestones.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company standards.
• Attend and lead site meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Support procurement activities and manage subcontractor performance.
• Assist in managing project documentation and reporting.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to oversee a key project in Wiltshire, with future work expected across the Midlands and South. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful technical and commercial delivery of mechanical packages on complex projects, maintaining our high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical installation and commissioning process from pre-construction through to handover
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer within an M&E or main contracting environment

• Experience delivering projects within Education, MoJ, healthcare, or similarly regulated sectors is advantageous
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project financials
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider project team
• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (HNC/HND/Degree )
• CSCS card (relevant level)
• Security clearance (or willingness and eligibility to obtain it) is highly desirable
