Job summary

James Fisher is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The role covers driving projects from concept to completion, supporting design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery activities.

You will coordinate with Sales, Supply Chain and Production to deliver engineering solutions and ensure adherence to standards and budgets. The position requires a degree in Mechanical/EE engineering or equivalent, with experience across concept through prototyping to production, and

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques.
• Experience taking designs from concept through prototyping, validation and production.
• Skilled in preparing and managing engineering and project documentation.
• Knowledge of gas and fluid systems, relevant design standards, and industry guidelines (e.g. IMCA).
• Experience working to marine or defence standards, including class society rules such as LR and DNV.
• Experience with PLM systems; product design, diving equipment design, or diving qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and resolve engineering queries across projects and existing product ranges.
• Coordinate with internal departments, including Sales, Supply Chain and Production, to deliver effective engineering solutions.
• Communicate project progress and engineering updates to key stakeholders.
• Source components and materials and create associated part numbers and bills of materials.
• Prepare and review engineering documentation, including specifications, schedules, procedures, certification and reports.
• Identify, assess and manage technical and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements and quality expectations.
• Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time and within budget, acting as a technical checker and supporting site visits to suppliers, clients and other company locations as required.

The Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will drive projects from concept to completion, supporting design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery activities.
