Job Overview
We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with a Mechanical Project Engineer, offering hybrid working arrangements. You will report directly to the Project Manager and assist the Project / Construction Manager in coordinating effective and economical plant design and procurement strategies. Your role will include ensuring timely issuance of information to enable construction, commissioning, and operational handover in line with the Contract Programme, as well as providing cost data for forecasts and evaluation of variations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure project costs do not exceed tender/varied allowances
- Make all applications for payment on or before the due date
- Complete and submit contract reviews and monthly forecasts on time
- Maintain good client relationships at all levels
- Assist with the Project Management strategy
- Establish and maintain contract filing systems
- Assist in producing the contract programme, monitor progress, and produce reports
- Provide data for the timely production of O&M manuals
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and site management on design and procurement issues
- Monitor subcontractor performance
- Assist in preparing construction completion and takeover documentation
- Participate in continuous professional development through networking, conferences, and industry groups
- Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach, providing honest feedback
- Undertake other duties as required, consistent with the role's responsibilities
- Present a professional image in all internal and external contacts
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Work closely with design departments to ensure timely, quality solutions
- Evaluate innovative solutions and processes
- Contribute to risk and opportunity schedules monthly
- Develop safe-to-construct, operate, and maintain designs
- Complete the capitalization process
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Basic engineering background
- Knowledge of various contract conditions, especially NEC
- Engineering/Technical qualification (minimum HNC)
- Experience in supply chain expedition
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
- CDM & Health & Safety knowledge
