Job description

Role:- Mechanical & Process Design Engineer (outside of IR35)
Based:- Stonehouse, Glos. GL10 (hybrid role)
Rate:- Negotiable
Duration:- 6 months +

Design of market leading chemical analysis panel systems for power and water markets. Working in a dynamic multi-disciplinary R&D department consisting of technicians, engineers and scientists working on design maintenance projects.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Design of panel systems consisting of bespoke instrument and piping arrangements for the measurement of water and other chemicals in the power industry.
  2. Generation of process GAs, piping isometrics, P&IDs, component specifications, etc., for bespoke and standard panel-mounted process solutions.
  3. Generation of structured BoMs and configuration drawings for configurable products with multiple variants/options.
  4. Process design review and optimisation.
  5. Unambiguous specification of manufactured and proprietary parts and assemblies.
  6. Delivery of technical product documentation including mechanical drawings to BS 8888 standards.
  7. Participation in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses.
  8. Design validation testing.
  9. Continuous improvement of personal and company processes.

Adhering to corporate values and standards including health and safety, ethics, and integrity.

  • Cost-effective and clear design specifications.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for first-time right execution.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Process design expertise.
  • Proven ability to deliver P&IDs and process system designs.
  • Experience working within controlled engineering change processes and using PDM/PLM software.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in process control and instrumentation selection.
  • Instrumentation design experience.
  • Practical experience with SolidWorks, Windchill PLM, and SAP.
  • Practical experience with AutoCAD Plant3D, AutoCAD P&ID, SMAP or similar.
  • Experience with HAZOPs and cause-and-effect analyses.
  • Knowledge of process design standards like ASME B31.3, ISO13480.
