Your purpose

The role will entail leading projects to deliver piping solutions for the construction of new nuclear stations and systems at fusion research facilities, support the operation of the existing nuclear generating fleet and decommission nuclear sites. You will work on a broad range of projects with opportunities to develop your technical capabilities and stay challenged.

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day activities may include the following:
  • Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or other relevant qualification).
  • Experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis.
  • Experience in writing accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports (e.g. design substantiations, basis of analysis, safety case references).
  • Comfortable engaging with existing and prospective clients, working at their sites, and investing time in understanding their issues, goals, and processes.
What you can bring

In addition to having excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Technical practitioner able to demonstrate good engineering judgement and with good experience in using fundamental engineering skills.
  • Experience in piping and/or pressure vessel design and stress analysis.
Desirable experience
  • Experience with working in a safety critical and heavily regulated environment such as nuclear power generation/decommissioning industries.
  • Working towards chartership with a relevant professional institute.
  • Experience in working with design codes such as ASME BPVC Section III, RCC-M, BS EN 13480, BS EN 13445.
  • Awareness of UK legislation relating to piping.
