Location: Preston

Hatched Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading engineering firm based in the Midlands. We are supporting them in hiring several Mechanical Pipefitters/Welders in Preston on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • NDT Inspection Preparation: Prepare vessels and equipment for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections.
  • Mechanical Support: Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance for mechanical issues, including breakdowns.
  • Maintenance Program Support: Contribute to development, implementation, and evaluation of maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing and coordinating spare parts for pipefitting and welding operations.
  • Workplace Safety Compliance: Follow safe work systems and maintenance protocols.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Safety Reporting: Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior team members.
Required Experience:
  • Pipefitting/Welding Expertise: At least three years of experience in pipe fitting, welding, or fabrication, especially in hygienic stainless steel dairy tube welding within the brewing industry.
  • TIG Welding Proficiency: Skilled in TIG welding, capable of working on thin-wall stainless steel dairy tubes and SS schedule tubing.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret pipework schematics and engineering drawings; experienced in planning hygienic and aesthetic pipe and service routes.
  • Specialized Training: Confined space certification and MEWP/FLT experience are advantageous.
  • Welding Qualifications: Ideally certified to BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017; experienced in arc and TIG welding, working with various steel grades, pipe diameters, and positions (PA, PC, PE, PF, PG, 6G).
  • Weld Inspection: Skilled in visual weld inspections per ISO 17637.
  • Mechanical Fitting: Experience in mechanical fitting is a plus.
