Job summary

Hirecracker is seeking a Fitter – Gas Suppression Systems in Slough, covering London and the Southeast. You will install and commission fixed gas suppression systems across data centres, commercial buildings and industrial sites.

The role requires a skilled fitter with heavy-gauge steel pipework experience, able to read drawings, and willing to travel across the region. Training on specialist gas suppression equipment is provided and salary starts from £40,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Proven experience fitting heavy-gauge steel pipework.
• Qualified Pipe Fitter or Sprinkler Fitter.
• Ability to read technical drawings.
• Good understanding of installation procedures and site safety.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel across London and the Southeast.
• Gas suppression installation experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Installing heavy-gauge steel pipework and gas suppression systems.
• Carrying out pipework assembly, cylinder positioning and nozzle installation.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and installation plans.
• Conducting system pressure testing.
• Ensuring installations meet health and safety standards.
• Working with project managers and site teams to deliver installations.
• Traveling to customer sites across London and the Southeast, with possible overnight stays.

About the Client

We’re working with an established organisation specialising in fire protection and suppression systems. They’re currently looking to recruit two experienced Fitters to join their team, working on installation projects across London and the Southeast.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in heavy-gauge steel pipework, particularly those with sprinkler installation experience who are looking to develop their skills within gas suppression systems.

The Fitter Role

As a Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the mechanical installation and commissioning of fixed fire suppression systems across a range of environments, including data centres, commercial buildings and telecommunications facilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing heavy-gauge steel pipework and gas suppression systems

• Carrying out pipework assembly, cylinder positioning and nozzle installation

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and installation plans

• Conducting system pressure testing

• Ensuring installations meet relevant health and safety standards

• Working alongside project managers and site teams to deliver installations

• Travelling to customer sites across London and the Southeast, with occasional overnight stays where required

Fitter Essential Skills

• Proven experience fitting heavy-gauge steel pipework

• Previous experience as a qualified, hands-on Pipe Fitter or Sprinkler Fitter

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

• Good understanding of installation procedures and site safety

• Full UK driving licence

• Willingness to travel across London and the Southeast

• Previous gas suppression installation experience would be advantageous but is not essential
