Job summary

Hargreaves Industrial Services seeks a Mechanical MFO to examine, test, install and maintain mechanical plant within the Port of Tyne contract. The role involves handling a biomass facility, with 5x12h shift patterns and a 2x12h day/night cycle, on a permanent basis.

Key duties include mechanical fitting, rigging, planned maintenance, defect closure, fault finding, and safe operation of equipment and vehicles, in a strict health & safety environment.

Qualifications

• Must have completed mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
• ATEX zone knowledge and experience preferred.
• Maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment.
• Strong health and safety adherence on site.
• Capable of following permit-to-work procedures.
• Completion of Hargreaves safety induction training.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical fitting and rigging tasks.
• Carry out examinations, testing and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Carry out Planned Maintenance per operation manuals.
• Raise and close out defects identified during inspections.
• Operate site vehicles and workshop equipment with proper documentation.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed on site.
• Continuously seek improvements to service delivery.

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical MFO, responsible for the effective examination, testing, installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, to join our team within our Port of Tyne contract.

CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: Around £44,760.44 per annum

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical MFO, responsible for the effective examination, testing, installation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment, to join our team within our Port of Tyne contract.

Hargreaves Industrial Services provide a varied Operations, Maintenance and Industrial cleaning service to our client at the Port of Tyne Biomass handling facility.

We are responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of a material handling system consisting of traditional and Air glide conveyors including a number of transfer towers and three 25,000 ton storage silos which transfers Biomass wood pellets from vessel to a rail loading facility with which we also maintain and operate sending the Biomass material via rail to Lynemouth power station.

The site is also supported on a day to day basis with our industrial cleaning team ensuring a very strict cleaning regime is adhered to at all times.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties:

• Mechanical fitting.
• Rigging and Slinging
• General maintenance through an established PPM scheme.
• Raising and closing out of all defects.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs on all Mechanical Equipment.
• Carry out Planned Maintenance as per Operation Manual Schedules
• Ability to carry out fault finding.
• Operate site Vehicles. (Complete relevant Documentation)
• Operate Workshop Equipment and tools as required. (Complete relevant Documentation)
• Carry out Examinations, Inspections and testing of all Mechanical Equipment.
• Inspection of site ensuring Health and Safety procedures are being adhered to.
• Continually look for ways to improve service.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills/experience/attributes:

• Served Apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering.
• Compex certificate
• Knowledge of Plant (Especially working within ATEX zones)
• Positive attitude to Health & Safety.
• Site safety induction training.
• Adhere to Permit to work procedures.
• Hargreaves safety induction training.
• Comply and understand all site golden rules, safety instructions and procedures.
• Undertake all mandatory E-learning as required.
• COMPEX training.
