Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Clydach, Swansea | £36,612 - £38,764 per annum + overtime + 10% annual bonus | Full-Time | Monday to Friday + On-Call Rota | Ongoing Contract

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting Mechanical Maintenance Technicians on behalf of our prestigious client, Vale Europe, for ongoing positions at their Mond Nickel Refinery in Clydach, Swansea.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and play a critical role in supporting the plant's production units. You'll be responsible for both planned maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs, using your mechanical expertise to ensure operational uptime and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns during working hours and as part of an on-call rota.
  • Work with a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment including pumps, motors, conveyors, belts, and drives.
  • Machine basic engineering parts using lathes, milling machines, and centre bores.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health & safety compliance.
  • Wear Breathing Apparatus and work in confined spaces or at height, as required.
Requirements
  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of rotational and mechanical equipment.
  • Competent in basic machining operations.
  • CCNSG Site Safety Passport (essential).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces and at height.
  • Flexible to participate in an on-call rota.
