Job summary

MASHCo, based at Manchester Airport, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join the fuel farm and hydrant systems team. The role combines hands-on maintenance with planning, coordination and technical reporting in a highly regulated setting.

Location is Manchester Airport on-site. The role offers a permanent contract with a salary of £50,677 to £53,658, rising to £59,620 after successful training and competency. A 37.5‑hour week, with occasional nights and overtime, is standard.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 5+ years hands-on maintenance in industrial/safety-critical environments.
• Experience with RAMS and Control of Work systems.
• Ability to produce clear written documentation.
• Full driving licence and airside pass eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding across fuel farm plant, hydrant systems, valves, pumps, and related infrastructure.
• Act as an authorised person within Permit to Work and Control of Work processes, preparing, issuing, monitoring and closing permits.
• Coordinate third-party contractors on site, verify works, review documentation and escalate quality or programme issues.
• Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements, maintain accurate service records, and produce technical reports for management.
• Contribute to safety audits and compliance with JIG standards and COMAH requirements, and support site improvements.
• Record maintenance activities, defects and repairs in CMMS; plan rectifications with maintenance team.
• Provide regular updates to Maintenance Manager on progress, equipment condition, defects and risks.
