South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is seeking a Mechanical Assistant to join the Estates team. The role involves maintenance across hospital sites and community properties, assuring safe, tidy work practices and cost-effective servicing.

You will perform planned, reactive and emergency maintenance, understanding building services and fire safety aspects. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, with adherence to current legislation and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge applicable to domestic and commercial buildings.
• Ability to understand and maintain building services and fire safety components.
• Ability to perform statutory checks and follow safety policies.

Responsabilités

• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance and emergency works as required.
• Understand workings of buildings and plant; ensure safe and efficient use of equipment.
• Record information and use works requisition system for timely completion.
• Work as part of a departmental team and support colleagues at all levels.
• Provide maintenance services to Trust properties and off-site locations, unsupervised when required.
• Occasionally work extra hours or different patterns to maintain continuity of service.
• Keep up to date with current legislation and training as directed by Estate Management.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.
