Job summary

AM Global is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a permanent role based in Hartlepool. You will execute maintenance tasks, raise permits, and follow safe systems of work to keep production running.

A recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification is essential, with strong mechanical skills and, ideally, an instrument or electrical trade background. You must be able to work in a 24/7 shift environment, including on-call arrangements.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical maintenance apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Mechanical fitter background with instrument or electrical trade experience, ideally in chemical/oil and gas industries.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

• Raise work permit requests and follow isolation procedures.
• Contribute to risk assessments for maintenance duties.
• Identify and rectify failures in service and equipment defects.
• Perform scheduled maintenance per the maintenance plan to support production.
• Adhere to company standards to minimise production impact and maximise plant availability.
• Develop and review maintenance procedures to keep information accurate.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for safety and efficiency.
• Conduct fault finding and improvement activities to reduce repeats.
• Track maintenance KPIs such as schedule achievement and MTTR.

AM Global are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our client on a permanent basis, based in Hartlepool.

Main responsibilities of the role:

• Raise relevant work permit requests, accept and follow the permit, isolation procedure and other related safe systems of work to complete the task.
• Complete and/or contribute to risk assessments associated with all maintenance duties expected for the role.
• Identify and rectify failures in service, and equipment defects, related to your specific trade and subsequent training and development.
• Complete scheduled maintenance as per the company maintenance plan to support the running of the production site.
• Work to company standards and procedures to ensure maintenance tasks are executed to the required quality standard, with the goal of minimising impact on production and maximising plant availability.
• Develop and review maintenance procedures to keep information accurate, complete and relevant.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities with the aim of improving safety, environmental, equipment availability and efficiency performance.
• Fault finding and improvement activities to reduce repeat equipment failure.
• Maintenance KPI's such as schedule achievement, right first time, mean time to repair/maintain.

Skills and qualifications required:

• Essential: Recognised mechanical maintenance apprenticeship or relevant trade qualification, or equivalent demonstrable competence and experience.
• Mechanical fitter background, or demonstration of strong mechanical skills along with an instrument or electrical trade background. Ideally within the chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. The role operates within a 24/7 manufacturing environment and the postholder will be required to work the applicable shift/on-call arrangements for the role.
