Job description

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a major waste management and energy company to recruit for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join their new Energy from Waste Power Station in Essex.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Leading a team of mechanical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability.
  2. Scheduling, planning and optimising all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  3. Supervising and directing contractors.
  4. Working closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified.
  5. Assisting in the setting up and development of the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  6. Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. Ideally a HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.
  2. A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous.
Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role would suit someone who has:

  1. Proven supervisory/management experience in a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Generation, COMAH sites, Paper Mills, Pharmaceutical sites, FMCG, etc.
  2. Experience in maintaining and working on a variety of mechanical equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.
  3. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as PSSR.
