Job summary

A leading industrial manufacturing site is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to oversee critical mechanical assets. You will supervise maintenance teams, plan preventive tasks, and ensure compliance with safety procedures. The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering and experience with rotating equipment in manufacturing. This is a permanent full-time role located in South London.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience maintaining rotating equipment in a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Good understanding of planned maintenance systems.
  • Familiar with ATEX and COMAH environments preferred.

Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor
Location: South London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Contract Type: Permanent

Join a leading industrial manufacturing site and take charge of maintaining critical mechanical assets that keep operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on leadership role where your expertise in pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment will directly influence plant reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance team.

  • Plan, schedule, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, compressors, and rotating machinery.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including permit-to-work systems.

  • Manage external contractors and oversee installation and commissioning works.

  • Support reliability improvement initiatives and site maintenance strategies.

About You

  • Recognised apprenticeship or NVQ qualification in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.

  • Proven experience maintaining rotating equipment in a manufacturing or process environment.

  • Good understanding of planned maintenance systems (e.g. SAP or similar).

  • Familiar with ATEX and COMAH environments (preferred but not essential).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Safety-focused mindset and proactive approach to continuous improvement.
