Job summary

Biffa Ltd in Wakefield is looking for a maintenance technician with strong mechanical skills to support shift teams in mechanical and electrical repairs.

The role requires diagnosing faults, carrying out PMs using the CMMS, and ensuring safety with PTW and LOTO compliance.

You will read PIDs and schematics, work with rotating machinery, and contribute to keeping plant equipment running safely.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering
• Strong fault diagnosis and rectification skills
• Ability to read PIDs and mechanical schematics including pneumatics & hydraulics

Responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical repairs and electrical repairs as needed
• Diagnose faults to restore plant operation quickly
• Carry out PMs and reactive work orders in the CMMS
• Report accidents and incidents using Eco Online system
• Maintain health, safety and environmental compliance

Job description

• Have strong mechanical skills and assist the shift team with mechanical repairs and electrical repairs if the electrician requires assistance
• Flexibility to undertake training on site such as MEWP, FLT, Telehandler and Confined Space Entry Training
• Work with the operations team to diagnose faults in a timely manner to have the plant back operational
• Use the CMMS system to carry out PPMs and complete reactive work orders and feedback with detailed information
• Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported on our Eco Online System
  Strong fault diagnosis and rectification on the above detailed systems and equipment
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering
• The ability to read to a high level of understanding PIDs and mechanical schematics including pneumatics and hydraulics
• Good working knowledge on rotating machinery, shaft alignment, machinery mounting, service equipment, conveying systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics
• Competent in the use of machine tools and hand tools that would be expected to be used in maintenance activities
• Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
• Working knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems
