Position: Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Maintenance)

Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 basic - Mon-Fri 40 hours per week

Location: Liverpool

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Building Services) to work within an estates team, providing maintenance and repairs to mechanical plant rooms such as pressure systems, AHUs, HVAC, pumps/valves, commercial plumbing, and associated equipment. The role is permanent, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Circa £40,000 basic salary. On-call TBA. Overtime available. Based in the Liverpool area.

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake proactive maintenance, repairs, and inspections of mechanical building services in accordance with relevant standards, operational procedures, legislation, and guidance.
  2. Represent the company in a respectful and professional manner.
  3. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and associated building services as per the PPM schedule and personal competence.
  4. Respond promptly to ad-hoc breakdown requests as directed by supervisor/manager or as per site contract.
  5. Assist in minor installation, upgrading, and adaptation works.
  6. Conduct systematic fault finding on malfunctioning equipment safely and logically.
  7. Follow safe working practices in accordance with statutory and company guidelines.
  8. Operate access equipment, hand and power tools safely, adhering to health & safety and manufacturer guidelines.
  9. Use personal protective equipment correctly and adhere to health & safety procedures.
  10. Maintain accurate records, written or electronic, as required.
  11. Work flexibly with other trades/colleagues and assist where needed.
  12. Participate in callout/standby rota after qualifying period.
  13. Undertake training to learn new skills and develop service requirements.
  14. Perform on-site risk assessments as instructed.
  15. Complete all job cards and paperwork to standard.
  16. Complete work within specified timeframes.
  17. Perform any other tasks relevant to the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience in a maintenance environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with PPM and reactive work.
  • Experience working on plumbing systems.
  • Ability to pass DBS checks.
  • Experience with HVAC systems and cooling towers is advantageous.
