Job description

Maintenance Mechanical Engineer (Heating Focus)

Red Rock Consultants are currently recruiting for a Mechanical maintenance engineer, must have experience within Air conditioning, Heating, Commercial and domestic Gas, plumbing.

Role Overview: This role supports the major projects team following the completion of projects during the 12 or 24-month defect period. You will primarily work in and around the Midlands area, including Birmingham, Nottingham, and surrounding locations.

You will be responsible for addressing defects in both commercial and residential properties, including offices, schools, care homes, student accommodation, and hotels. The work will involve diagnosing and rectifying heating-related issues, including but not limited to:

  1. Heating System Faults: Identifying why temperatures are inconsistent or systems aren't functioning correctly, particularly in central heating systems, boilers, and associated components.

  2. Boiler Repairs & Maintenance: Diagnosing and fixing issues with boilers, from lack of heat to system pressure problems.

  3. Leaks and Pipework: Locating and resolving leaks within heating systems, radiators, or underfloor heating pipes.

  4. General Heating & Ventilation Issues: Inspecting and maintaining ventilation systems, managing air flow, and ensuring heating systems are functioning efficiently.

As part of the role, you will be required to provide reports on your findings, request necessary materials, and coordinate with the office to schedule further visits if required.

You will also be involved in planned maintenance contracts, conducting annual or biannual inspections and servicing of heating and ventilation systems, ensuring all equipment is working to optimum standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Fault-find and repair issues with heating systems, including central heating, hot water systems, and ventilation.

  2. Conduct planned maintenance checks and services, including boiler inspections and ensuring the efficiency of heating systems.

  3. Diagnose and resolve faults in both domestic and commercial settings.

  4. Interact with customers respectfully and professionally, providing clear communication regarding system faults and repairs.

  5. Report findings back to the office and liaise to arrange any further visits if required.

Experience & Requirements:
  1. Experience in heating and maintenance.

  2. NVQ in Plumbing (Domestic and Commercial).

  3. NVQ in Heating and Ventilation.

  4. Gas Safe Qualification (Domestic minimum).

  5. Hold a relevant CSCS trade card.

  6. Full UK driver's license.

  7. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

  8. Experience working independently and managing your workload efficiently.

  3. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break.
