Overview

Gap Personnel Telford is proud to be partnering with a well-established manufacturing business based in Telford who are seeking a skilled Permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives on variety. From preventative maintenance and breakdown support to fabrication and new machine builds, no two days are the same.

Role

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer — Telford | £37,500 – £40,000 per annum | Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out both preventive and reactive mechanical maintenance on plant and machinery
  • Operating and maintaining workshop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and welding/fabrication equipment
  • Involved in new machine builds and supporting fabrication projects
  • Working with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical fitting, and pipework installation
  • Supporting TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assisting with general building maintenance and in-house tooling manufacture
  • Collaborating closely with the Engineering & Production teams to meet operational targets
Qualifications and Experience
  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer with strong, hands-on maintenance experience
  • Confident in fabrication, welding, mechanical fitting, and workshop machining
  • Skilled in using lathes, milling machines, and general workshop tools
  • A proactive and flexible team player who’s also comfortable working independently
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially when responding to breakdowns
  • Basic computer literacy and good communication skills
