Job Title: Shift Mechanical Fitter
Location: Leeds
Salary: £47,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Shifts)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter based in Leeds and looking for a well-paid, shift-based role in a fast-paced industrial environment?

We're working with a leading manufacturing business who are looking to add a skilled Shift Mechanical Fitter to their team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a reactive and preventative maintenance environment and enjoys working with a wide variety of equipment and systems.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to breakdowns as the first point of contact, working alongside the shift electrician
  • Use Pemac CMMS to receive and log jobs, allocate spares, and record histories
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections
  • Fault-find and repair rotating equipment including pumps, gearboxes, pulpers, fans, refiners etc.
  • Install and align new mechanical components and assemblies
  • Carry out light machining tasks (lathe, mill, pillar drill) and basic welding/fabrication
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam plant systems
  • Assist with writing risk assessments and ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Participate in shift rotation, including cover shift every 5th cycle
What You\'ll Need
  • Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship
  • At least 5 years\' experience in an industrial setting
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Confident with CMMS systems and general IT literacy
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude and the flexibility to work shifts
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a close-knit team
