LKAB is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to ensure high standards of operational efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement.

This role is crucial in maximizing plant safety, quality, uptime, and reducing machinery breakdowns. You will collaborate with the performance manager and maintenance supervisor to prioritize maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and implement predictive maintenance techniques for optimal plant operation.

You will support both planned and reactive maintenance activities, plant improvements, and projects across various machinery and equipment, maintaining accurate logs and records.

About the team:

Based onsite in Lund, working alongside the Maintenance Team Leader, Production Operatives, and Site Management.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks:
  • Perform comprehensive engineering and maintenance duties across the site, diagnosing and resolving faults.
  • Apply predictive maintenance methods and machinery knowledge to maximize uptime.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to document maintenance and breakdown activities.
  • Proactively develop and implement site improvement processes to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance.
  • Plan work schedules, allocate resources, and order parts within the maintenance budget.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety, Company, and Industry standards, following Safe Systems of Work.
  • Manage local contractors to ensure safety standards are maintained.
  • Potentially respond to call-outs outside normal working hours.
About you:
  • Completed a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Possess BTEC National/NVQ or equivalent qualification.
  • IOSH certification preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis is advantageous.
  • Skilled in maintaining medium to heavy plant, including screening, crushing, milling, dust extraction, mixers, conveyors, pneumatic blowers, with basic machining, welding, pneumatics, and hydraulics skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards safety and environmental standards.
  • Proactive in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Professional, autonomous, and resilient in facing setbacks.
  • Capable of working independently or within a team.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
