Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a busy manufacturing site, diagnosing faults and ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard.

You will work on mechanical production machinery and site equipment, perform fault finding, preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and support continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Strong mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or automated environment.
• Experience with mechanical fault finding and maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Comfortable working in a days-based shift pattern.
• Able to work independently and respond effectively to breakdowns.
• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.

Job Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance across a busy manufacturing environment. You will be working on a range of mechanical production machinery and site equipment, diagnosing faults and ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard.

The role will involve mechanical fault finding, planned preventative maintenance, breakdown response and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Non‑Negotiable Requirements

• Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Strong mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or automated environment.
• Experience with mechanical fault finding and maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Comfortable working in a days‑based shift pattern.
• Able to work independently and respond effectively to breakdowns.

Requirements

• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills.
• Experience working with bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps and other mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• Previous experience working within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
• Additional electrical maintenance experience would be advantageous.
• Experience working within an automated manufacturing environment.
