The University of Exeter is looking for a full-time mechanical building services engineer starting July 2025. This role focuses on managing carbon projects and maintenance contracts within a collaborative environment, supporting the university's sustainability goals towards net zero by 2040.

This new full-time post is available from July 2025 on a permanent basis.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days working on site per week.
Summary of the role
The post holder expected to carry out mechanical building services engineering and maintenance contract management.
Assist in the delivery of the University’s Carbon Management Strategy by the delivery of low carbon and zero carbon projects and renewable technologies. such projects will include the construction of new build projects and extensive refurbishment works to decarbonise the estate as the University moves towards net zero in 2040. input into smaller capital refurbishment works and long-term maintenance projects.
The successful candidate will work within Estate Services, Engineering and Direct Works and alongside the Sustainability Team, Built Estate, Space Management and Administrative Teams, based at Streatham Farm, Streatham Campus, Exeter.
Working together within a small team of dedicated estates mechanical and electrical engineers implementing and delivering maintenance contracts, long term maintenance projects and capital construction projects.
The role involves close collaboration with other professionals within Estates, professional and academic services teams, stakeholders throughout the university and external consultants and contractors.

The starting salary will be from £42,882 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience.
