Who will you be working with?

Bearward Engineering is a Northampton based firm manufacturing radiators for the power generation industry.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Maintenance team, working a rotating shift pattern (0600-1400 / 1400-2200) 38 hours/week Monday to Friday, your role is to maintain, service, and repair all machinery used in the manufacturing process on site. Your responsibilities include minimizing production downtime using engineering techniques, adhering to Bearward’s procedures and specifications, and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards. You will also implement lean and 5S manufacturing principles, conduct PPMs when required, and use PPE supplied such as safety glasses, ear defenders, gloves, overalls, and safety boots.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your specific trade, for which adequate training will be provided.

What do we want to know about you?
  • Fault finding skills and understanding of schematics
  • Ability to read engineering diagrams/drawings/schematics
  • Recent experience with punch presses, ovens, and ancillary machinery
  • Experience with conveyors and automated production lines
  • Knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Basic understanding of automation and electrics
  • Ability to work with switchgears, controllers, PLCs, and CNC circuits
  • Effective prioritization and planning skills under pressure
  • Organized, self-motivated team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to follow health and safety and manual handling processes
  • Flexibility to work various shifts
  • Good communication skills
  • Practical, hands-on approach
  • Manufacturing background is desirable but not essential
  • Mechanically qualified (City and Guilds technician level preferred) with evidence of apprenticeship
Physical Demands

This role involves manual work, including lifting heavy equipment with magnetic hoists and chain/strap hoists.
