Job description

Job Title - Mechanical Engineer

My client is a global leading provider in facilities management and they are looking for a mechanical engineer to join the team and maintain all the mechanical aspects for one of their prestigious critical contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant such as pumps, fan coil units, and air handling units (AHUs).
  • Inspections & Diagnoses: Perform routine inspections, system tests, and operational checks to ensure optimal performance and identify potential faults.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental procedures, and maintain domestic water systems to meet L8 standard requirements.
  • Installation & Upgrades: Provide technical support for minor installation works and equipment upgrades.
  • Documentation: Prepare method statements and risk assessments and maintain detailed records of completed tasks using handheld devices and software.
  • Liaison: Collaborate with clients and management to escalate mechanical risks, provide recommendations, and foster positive working relationships.
  • Emergency Support: Participate in on-call rotas to provide support for mechanical faults and out-of-hours requests.
  • Team Support: Mentor and support other engineers to foster a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
Person Specification
  • Mechanical Qualifications from a recognised institution (C&Gs / NVQ)
  • Experience working within a critical or similar environment
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced technical skills in maintaining a variety of mechanical plant and systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and swiftly remedy plant faults and defects.
  • Record-Keeping: Competence in using software and handheld devices to log faults and update job status.
  • Communication: Ability to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Teamwork: Experience working collaboratively with other engineers
