Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a Bridgwater site on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. The role offers a salary of circa £56,000 - £57,000 and overtime paid at 1.5x.

You will work with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and contribute to reliability and efficiency improvements. Ideal candidates will have a Level 3 engineering qualification and proven experience in high-volume manufacturing, with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive, team-oriented

Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Level 3 engineering qualification (NVQ, HND or equivalent).
• Basic electrical fault finding skills.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations in an industrial setting.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with excellent teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert first-line support on manufacturing assets and processes.
• Fault-find, repair and maintain production machinery.
• Implement and improve preventive maintenance programs for efficiency.
• Work with production teams and contractors to minimise downtime.
• Drive continuous improvement by analysing equipment performance.
• Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Assist in engineering projects and installation of new equipment.
• Document maintenance activities and report accurately.

As a Mechancial Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing expert first-line support on all manufacturing assets and processes.
• Conducting fault-finding, repair, and maintenance on production machinery.

• Working alongside production teams and contractors to ensure minimal downtime.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives, analysing equipment performance, and identifying long-term solutions.
• Maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Assisting in engineering projects and installation of new equipment.
• Documenting maintenance activities and ensuring accurate reporting.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Proven experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• A recognised level 3 engineering qualification (NVQ, HND, or equivalent).
• Basic Electrical fault finding skills
• An understanding of health & safety regulations in an industrial setting.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with excellent teamwork skills.
