Overview

Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter

Hours: 7:00pm till 3:30am / 3:00pm till 12:00am, Mon to Fri - Permanent nights with some flexibility on start/finish times and working days (e.g., Sunday to Thursday).

Salary: £43,000-£45,000, plus Benefits and Career opportunities

Location: Commutable from Spalding, Grantham, Peterborough, Bourne, Sleaford, and surrounding areas

Company: We are recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to work within a small maintenance team for a food manufacturing company. You will be part of a friendly, family‑like environment, supported to ensure you have what you need to succeed. The role is permanent nights with some flexibility around start/finish times and working days.

Responsibilities
  • Proactive maintenance with a focus on planned preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment across the site.
  • Operate in a very small, varied, autonomous team where you can make the role your own.
  • Maintain machinery such as conveyors and packaging equipment.
  • Assist with reactive work, attend to and resolve breakdowns urgently.
  • Engage in general project work, machinery upgrades, installation, and ad-hoc facilities tasks.
  • Coordinate specialist contractors when on site and support continuous improvements.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter with a maintenance or service background in industrial, manufacturing, production, FMCG or similar environments.
  • Holding qualifications or equivalent experience in mechanical or related fields.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting skills across some of the following: motors, belts, bearings, chains, gears, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.
  • Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance and strong troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities.
  • Friendly, adaptable, and able to work well as part of a close-knit team.
  • Proactive, self-starter attitude with flexibility around start/finish times when necessary.
  • Commitment to carrying out activities in accordance with Site Health and Safety instructions.
