Job summary

HVAC Recruitment seeks a Mechanical Shift Lead to manage day-to-day maintenance on a busy site in a hands-on leadership role. The position oversees a team of engineers and ensures safe, efficient operations.

The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, prior supervisory experience, and a commitment to health and safety. Monday–Friday schedule with a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising engineers is desirable.
• Open to candidates with plumbing or electrical qualifications/backgrounds.
• Strong technical/mechanical understanding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Mechanical Engineers.
• Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive repairs.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in line with site risk assessments.
• Maintain documentation and compliance paperwork.
• Support the Mechanical Manager when required.
• Ensure high standards across maintenance operations.

Mechanical Shift Lead

Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE

Hours: Monday – Friday | 08:00 – 17:00

Call Out: Not initially required, but may be introduced over time

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Shift Lead to join our team and oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy site. This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for someone technically minded who can support and guide a team while ensuring the smooth running of maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of Mechanical Engineers
• Supporting and covering for the Mechanical Manager when required
• Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive repairs
• Carrying out spot checks within plant rooms and associated areas
• Managing day-to-day engineering duties and ensuring issues are resolved promptly
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with risk assessments and site procedures
• Ensuring all documentation and compliance paperwork is completed accurately
• Maintaining high standards across all maintenance operations

Experience

• Strong technical/mechanical understanding
• Previous experience leading or supervising engineers is desirable
• Open to candidates with plumbing or electrical qualifications/backgrounds
• Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
• Health & Safety awareness essential
