Job summary

KBM Resourcing is seeking a practical Mechanical/Hydraulic Technician to service, repair, refurbish, assemble and test equipment across oil & gas, renewables, fishing, forestry and industrial sectors.

You will inspect, dismantle, diagnose faults, and rebuild hydraulic and mechanical components, both on-site and in workshops, with a focus on quality and safety. Travel to customer sites will be required as training progresses.

Qualifications

• A sound mechanical background and practical experience of equipment servicing, maintenance or repair.
• Hydraulic knowledge is advantageous, with a willingness to develop further skills.
• A strong commitment to quality, accuracy and getting the job right.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.
• Confidence working both as part of a small team and independently within the limits of training and competence.
• A practical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to ask for guidance when required.
• Reliability, initiative and a positive attitude towards learning and taking on responsibility.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

• Complete work to a consistently high standard, checking accuracy before handing equipment over.
• Plan and complete allocated tasks within agreed timescales, maintaining quality and safety.
• Report faults, delays or parts requirements promptly.
• Work cooperatively within a small team and take responsibility for tasks.
• Attend customer sites and, once trained, carry out work independently.
• Complete accurate job sheets, inspection records and calibration documentation.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and organised condition.
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures and customer site requirements.
• Represent professionally when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Travel to customer locations overseas for installation, repair, service and calibration following training.

The ideal candidate will be required to support the servicing, repair, refurbishment, assembly and testing of equipment used across the oil and gas, renewables, fishing, forestry and industrial sectors.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Inspect, dismantle, diagnose faults, repair and rebuild mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
• Assemble, install and test equipment in accordance with drawings, technical instructions and company procedures.
• Complete work to a consistently high standard, checking accuracy and functionality before handing equipment over.
• Plan and complete allocated tasks within agreed timescales, maintaining quality and safety when working to tight deadlines.
• Identify and promptly report faults, delays, additional work or parts requirements.
• Work cooperatively within a small team, supporting colleagues and taking responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Attend customer sites and, once trained, carry out work independently.
• Complete accurate job sheets, inspection records, test results and calibration documentation as required.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and organised condition.
• Follow company health, safety and quality procedures, together with customer site requirements.
• Represent professionally when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Once the necessary training has been completed, the role will require overseas travel to install, repair, service and calibrate equipment at customer locations.
