Mechanical Handling Engineer - Nuclear, Sheffield

This role involves working on complex design projects related to mechanical handling, remote operations, or robotics within the energy industry. You will design systems for nuclear waste packaging, fuel handling, fusion reactor maintenance, and support for nuclear programs and renewable energy projects. The position requires adaptability, project management skills, and a focus on safety and innovation.

Role requirements:

• Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or relevant qualification)
• Experience in designing and substantiating mechanical handling or robotic systems
• Proficient in writing technical reports and specifications
• Ability to engage with clients and understand their needs
• Experience in regulated engineering environments and QA processes

Desirable criteria:

• Nuclear industry experience
• Experience with heavy machinery, automation, or robotic technologies
• Knowledge of design codes such as BS EN13001, BS 2573, or ASME B30
• CAD skills, especially Autodesk Inventor
• Chartered status or nearing registration
