Do you want to solve global energy challenges for future generations?

At Aker Solutions, we are changemakers and accelerators. With a proud history of delivering complex projects to the oil and gas industry, we seek talented individuals to help us shape a sustainable energy future.

Our London team provides consulting, front-end studies, engineering, procurement, and project management services for oil and gas field developments, HVDC, renewable energy, and carbon capture projects.

We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer to strengthen our team.

What will you be doing?

As a senior material handling engineer, you will work within the piping & layout engineering team to deliver material handling design requirements for offshore oil & gas platforms, wind farm HVDC platforms, FPSOs, and onshore carbon capture/hydrogen projects. Your work will ensure compliance with Aker Solutions’ values, contractual requirements, and project standards, while considering procurement, construction, completion, and operational aspects. You will control and deliver material handling efforts within schedule and budget constraints.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Performing material handling engineering for all project phases: pre-FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC.
  • Identifying and modeling material handling equipment requirements and transport/transit routes in 3D.
  • Managing clashes and resolving design interferences related to material handling equipment and reserved volumes.
  • Preparing and reviewing discipline deliverables such as Material Handling Philosophy, Crane Study Report, and Material Handling Report.
  • Reviewing and contributing to cable pulling reports.
  • Ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with international codes, standards, client specifications, and project standards.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines, vendors, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations.
  • Engaging in risk management to identify project threats and opportunities related to material handling.
  • Keeping the lead piping & layout engineer informed of progress.
  • Executing material handling engineering in accordance with the Project Execution Model/Plan, schedule, budget, and contractual requirements, with a focus on quality and HSE.

We think you should have:

  • A university degree or relevant education with 5 to 10 years of postgraduate experience in front-end, FEED, and EPC projects.
  • Experience within the offshore and onshore oil & gas or renewable energy sectors.
  • A proven track record in material handling engineering roles during detailed engineering.
  • Proficiency in design software such as E3D, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with offshore platforms, especially wind farm HVDC platforms and HVDC equipment handling, is beneficial.
  • Experience in modularization for onshore projects is advantageous.
  • Experience with multiple office execution or workshare models is beneficial.
