Mechanical Fitter / Plumber (plus 30% R&R)
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive work appropriate to core skills, along with other duties as per training, to achieve flexibility and efficiency.
- Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical and plant engineering systems and equipment, in accordance with current regulations and guidance.
- Work on various hospital mechanical systems including heating, water systems, control systems, motors, domestic and catering equipment, ventilation, boilers, energy management, and communication systems.
- Manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new installations independently, adhering to recognized standards within acceptable timeframes.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, and efficient operation of engineering plant and equipment.
- Conduct water system inspections, tests, and maintain records following the Trust's Water Management Policy.
- Use relevant test equipment, tools, and interpret complex engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Plan daily work based on work orders issued by the Supervisor.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Complete installation inspections, tests, surveys, and related reports.
- Prepare lists for ordering materials and spare parts.
- Provide technical support and advice to staff and patients regarding clinical equipment maintained by the Estates Department.
- Offer advice, instruction, and training to apprentices, assistants, and support workers.
- Undertake planned preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Follow HTMs standards on sterilization and washer disinfectors after training.
- Participate in on-call duties to attend emergency repairs outside normal hours.
- Keep electronic records of all tasks performed.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
