Job summary

Dover Precision Components, based in Glasgow, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Polmadie site. You will prepare, dress and assemble fluid-film bearings to exact specifications, working on-site to strict quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical qualification (HNC/SVQ3) or an completed time-served apprenticeship and at least 5 years in industrial fitting, with ability to read metric/imperial drawings and assemble components.

Qualifications

• HNC/SVQ3 in Mechanical Engineering or time-served apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5 years' industrial mechanical fitter experience.
• Ability to read metric/imperial drawings.
• Experience preparing components for final assembly.
• Experience with hand tools, rotating equipment, air tools, cranes and lifting.
• Knowledge of precision machining is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, final dressing, health & safety, and continuous improvement duties.
• Follow quality specifications to ensure bearings meet standards.
• Maintain a safe working environment per statutory and company rules.
• Collaborate with Production Manager to resolve defects and shortages.
• Investigate causes of assembly issues and implement improvements.
