Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are proudly supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for a Mechanical Fitter/Assembler & Field Service Technician to join their team in Dumbarton, with regular travel to a range of field sites including power stations, refineries, and energy-from-waste plants.
This is a hybrid, hands-on role with around 70% workshop assembly and 30% field service work, where you'll be building, maintaining, and commissioning sootblowers and boiler cleaning equipment that are essential to critical industrial operations across the UK (and sometimes internationally!).
Assembling gearboxes, mechanical sub-assemblies & sootblowers
Performing final testing, inspection, and quality assurance
Attending field sites for equipment maintenance, overhauls & commissioning
Carrying out inspections and surveys of mechanical systems
Interpreting engineering drawings and following recognised build procedures
Ensuring high HSE standards, using safe systems of work including lock-out-tag-out
Supporting various internal and external projects with a problem-solving mindset
Communicating with client site teams and supporting strong working relationships
Recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification
Strong understanding of mechanical fitting practices in a workshop and/or field environment
Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, or industrial maintenance
Flexible and able to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally
Strong commitment to HSE, with a proactive, practical approach to safety
Excellent communicator with the ability to work independently and within teams
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Valid UK passport (for occasional international work)
Safety passport (training will be provided)
