Job summary

Dunwall is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our County Durham team, working on machine tools and industrial machinery. This is a hands-on role requiring precise fitting, maintenance and repair skills to keep plants running.

You will fit, service and troubleshoot lathes, milling machines, grinders and other equipment, following engineering drawings and safety standards. The role offers a permanent, full-time opportunity with overtime and career development potential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Technician.
• Experience in engineering/manufacturing/machine-tool environments.
• Strong fitting and maintenance experience.
• Experience with lathes, milling machines, grinders or similar machinery.
• Fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of components.
• Planned and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.
• Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding machinery.
• Identifying potential issues and carrying out corrective work.
• Working with bearings, gearboxes and other components.
• Using hand tools and workshop equipment.
• Working from drawings and specifications.
• Ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining high health and safety standards.
• Collaborating with the engineering team.
• Completing work to high standards within timescales.
